Sidney Lewis

by

The widow known as Sidney Lewis was born about 1743. We seek information on her origins and earlier life.

In 1773, she was a widow when she married Robert Lewis. Whether she was the mother of his six children living in 1796 is unknown to us.

By 1784, Lewis had taken over management of a popular tavern located at one of Albany's busiest intersections.

In August 1796, Sidney was named as heir and executor of the estate of her husband. He died in 1798 and his/their son, Stewart, took over management of the tavern.

Sidney Crawford Lewis died in December 1820 at the age of seventy-seven. Her will passed probate in July 1825.
