Matthew Kugler

Matthew Kugler was born about 1757. He most likely was the son of Matthew and Anna Stump Kugler. His father was an immigrant who was naturalized in New York in 1762.

His father was an Albany baker who died in 1782 leaving his widow to administer the estate.

Matthew (the son) may have served in the Revolutionary army. He was awarded a land bounty right for service in conjunction with the Albany militia regiment.

Beginning in 1788, he was identified as a member of the Albany Lutheran church. In that year, he submitted an account to the city for payment.

By 1790, young Matthew (Mathias) had become the head of a first ward Albany household that included a man, a woman, and a boy.

Before 1800, he may have relocated to Ohio.

According to the Albany newspapers, Matthew Kugler died in August 1835 at the age of seventy-eight.
