Catherine Hilton Van Zandt

by

Catherine Hilton was born about 1770. She probably was a daughter of one of the Hilton families living in the Albany area at that time.

In December 1792, she married her cousin, Gerrit Van Zandt, at the Albany Dutch church. By 1797, three children had been christened in Albany.

Gerrit R. Van Zandt was a carpenter whose home was in the first ward and was located near the river. They lived on Union Street until 1828 after which the houshold no longer was listed in the city directory. He died in 1840.

Catherine Hilton Van Zandt died in April 1851 at the age of seventy-nine.
