Jacob Groesbeck

Jacob Groesbeck was born in May 1715. He was a younger son in the large family of Johannes and Geertruy Quackenbush Groesbeck. He sometimes was referred to as "Jacob Groesbeck, Jr."

In October 1740. He married Catharina Yates at the Albany Dutch church where he was a regular baptism sponsor. His marriage, however, appears to have been childless.

This Jacob Groesbeck was a shoemaker who lived in the third ward. In 1742, he was appointed as firemaster. Aside from that, he made but a faint impression on the community record.

The name of Jacob Groesbeck appeared on the Albany freeholder list in 1763. In 1773, he was identified as a shoemaker who had Andrew Abel as an apprentice. After that, his name was absent from Albany annals.
