Mary Drew Skinner

by

Mary Drew was the wife of Albany innkeeper Jared Skinner. In July 1798, their daughter was christened at the Albany Dutch church. The marriage seems to have produced additional children.

Mary appears to have been born between 1756 and 1774. We seek defining information on her origins and path to Albany.

In 1800, their first ward residence housed twelve individuals including five young girls. A decade later, the Skinner household numbered seventeen.

Jared Skinner was dead by 1813, when his will passed probate. A few months later, widow Mary Skinner, an innkeeper, was listed in the first city directory at 159 Court Street.

After 1813, references to the name of Mary Drew Skinner have not yet been uncovered in our sweep of the community-based record. With outstanding questions, we move on for now.
