Cornelia Douw

by

Cornelia Douw (known in the record as "Neeltie") was born in November 1709. She was the last child born to the marriage of Hendrick Douw and the widow Neeltie Van Iveren Douw. She grew up in a large combined household in Albany and Rensselaerswyck.

She does not appear to have married. In 1749, she was named in the will of her father. Her brother was charged with caring for her until (or if) she married. At the same time, she was scheduled to receive "Kuypers Island" on the east side of the Hudson. Her father died in 1751.

Perhaps, she was the "Neeltie Douw" who in 1788 owed seventeen shillings to the estate of Dr. Henry Van Dyck.

We seek information on the later life and passing of Neeltie/Cornelia Douw.
