Bastian De Garmo

Sometimes known as Bastian De Garmo, Jr., this individual may have been born in January 1766 and christened in the Albany Dutch church. If so, he would have been a younger son of Niskayuna residents Peter and Geertruy Cregier De Garmo.

This Bastian does not appear to have married. Perhaps he lived with other family members including Widow De Garmo and another Bastian De Garmo.

In 1788, his (Bastian Junr.) personal holdings were valued under the second ward house of Widow and Bastian De Garmo. Two years later, perhaps he was one of the four men listed on the census in the household of "Bastian De Garmo" in the same vicinity of the second ward.

In December 1792, Bastian De Garmo, Jr. sold a lot near the southern border of Albany to James Dole.

In 1799, the second ward assessment roll valued the house, grounds, and personal property of Bastian De Garmo on Barracks Street. In 1800, the household of "Bastian Garmo" included only two adults (male and female).

By August 1802, the name of a "B. De Garmo" appeared on a list of the permanent poor from the second ward who were scheduled to receive alms.

Bastian De Garmo, Jr. is said to have then moved to Watervliet. we seek information on his later life and passing.
