Sara Cuyler Beekman

Sara Cuyler was born in October 1706. She was the daughter of Albany residents Abraham and Caatje Bleecker Cuyler. She grew up in the Pearl Street home of her father - a prominent trader and civic leader.

In July 1729, Sara married fur trader Johannes J. Beekman. By 1744, six children had been baptized in the Albany Dutch church.

These Beekmans lived In the second ward where Johannes was a prominent business and alderman. In 1742, Sara was left a share of her father's substantial estate.

Two months shy of her forty-fourth birthday, Sara Cuyler Beekman died in August 1746. She was buried from the Albany church. Beekman re-married and lived ten more years.
