Neeltie Croon Abeel

Neeltie Croon was born in Holland during the first half of the seventeenth century.

By November 1660, she had emigrated to New Netherland where she married Beverwyck carpenter Stoffel Janse Abeel. The marriage produced a many children who established the Abeel family across what became the province of New York.

These Abeels lived in Beverwyck then Albany where they were community mainstays for two decades. They filed a joint will in Dutch in December 1678. Neeltie inherited the estate when Stoffel Janse died in 1680. She died in 1681. Neeltie had two sisters who married Albany residents.
