Agnietie Conyn Van Wie

by

Agnietie Conyn (Agnes) probably was born during the 1670s. Perhaps she was the daughter of Beverwyck/Albany pioneer Leendert Philipse Conyn and his wife Agnietie Caspers. If so, she grew up in a large early Albany family.

In November 1698, she married south Manor native Gerrit Hendrickse Van Wie at the Albany Dutch church. By 1703, three children had been christened in Albany where the parents were occasional baptism sponsors.

This couple appear to have made their home on the Van Wie property about a mile south of Albany.

Agnietie Conyn Van Wie died during the winter of 1746 and was buried at her husband's "house" on March 20. Gerrit H. Van Wie was laid to rest beside her in December.
