Maria Bogardus Van Vechten

by

According to traditional sources, Maria Bogardus was born in September 1678. She was the daughter of Pieter and Wyntie Bosch Bogardus. She grew up in a mainline Albany home in the first ward.

In March 1699, she married Rensselaerswyck native Johannes Van Vechten at the Albany Dutch church. By 1714, eight children had been christened in Albany where Maria had belonged since before her marriage.

These Van Vechtens first made their home in the first ward either with or close by the home of her parents. However, they left Albany after a decade or so. We seek more information on their subsequent life.

Maria Bogardus Van Vechten was last heard from at the baptism of her last child in 1714.
