Jacob B. Bogert

by

Jacob B. Bogert was born in January 1736. He was the only surviving son in an otherwise large family of Benjamin and Anna Hallenbeck Bogert. He grew up in a carpenter's home in the third ward. He was known as "Jacob B. Bogert" to prevent confusion with other same-named, contemporary kinsmen.

He does not appear to have married. But, in July 1765, Jacob "P." Bogert paid for a burial in the Albany Dutch church.

In 1766, he joined a group of Albany men in signing a constitution for the Albany Sons of Liberty. He probably was the "son" listed under his father's holdings on city assessment rolls for 1766 and 1767.

In 1788, a Jacob B. Bogert owed ten shillings to the estate of Dr. Henry Van Dyck.
