Anna Bradt Wilkinson

Anna Bradt was born about 1676. Perhaps she was the third child born to the marriage of Jan and Maria Post Bradt. These Bradts raised their family in or just outside the Albany stockade. Her widowed mother still was alive and accounted for on the city census in 1697 but re-married shortly thereafter.

In July 1696, she married garrison soldier Daniel Wilkenson at the Albany Dutch church. At that time, both partners were said to have been living in Albany. Church records show that Anna's son Jan was christened on February 1, 1693. No father was named. No other children were christened in Albany churches.

After some difficulty, Wilkinson was able to set down roots in Albany. In 1702 and afterwards his first ward home was valued and located near those of other soldiers on the South Side of the city.
